Primary Purpose

Operates industrial washers and related equipment to provide Parkland and other customers with clean linen in a timely, sanitary, and safe manner.

Minimum Specifications

Education:

  • None

Experience:

  • Must have two years experience in linen services operations in a healthcare or commercial laundry environment.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • Certified Washroom Technician (CWT) through the Association for Linen Management (ALM) required within 6 months of placement in position.

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Must be able to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity, accurately count linen and maintain applicable records.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of applicable laundry equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and other hospital staff.

Responsibilities:

1. Operates tunnel washers, washer/extractors, dryers and other laundry equipment, ensuring the equipment is operating properly. Monitors equipment to ensure production schedules are maintained and daily records are accurate.

2. Completes production logs, washer/dryer logs, specials logs and other assigned paperwork correctly and legibly.

3. Monitors quality indicators such as chemical drum levels, wash temperatures, Ph levels, dryer back-pressure, flagging of COG linen, etc. and takes corrective action as needed to ensure optimum equipment performance and product quality.

4. Operates all laundry equipment in a manner to ensure safety and minimize equipment malfunctioning. Refers any equipment malfunctions to supervisor and/or maintenance personnel. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

5. Provides backup to other positions in the Linen Services department, including soiled linen sorting, processing clean linen, order-filling, delivery and other duties, to ensure continuous workflow and maintain adequate production levels. Serves as a resource to other Linen Services Technicians as needed.
6. Receives, identifies, verifies input/completion of all data in automated shipping/receiving system. Returns incomplete/inaccurate work to source for completion and/or modification. Utilize system to run standard reports, as requested.
