Job Description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Touchstone Diabetes Center, is seeking a research Instructor. The position requires an M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D. in basic science and 2-5 years postdoctoral research experience in an endocrinology related field.

We are looking for an independent investigator specializing in the field of metabolism and diabetes. The overall objective of the research to be covered is to define the physiological changes of adipose tissue biology during obesity and shed light on how adenopectin affects the comorbidities of obesity, on the molecular and cellular levels. The goal of this research is to determine the mechanism involved in lipid metabolism, immune response, and insulin sensitivity as well as cancer. These findings will provide critical insights into how we translate these findings into the clinic. We expect the candidate to be proficient in a broad set of metabolic phenotype characterization in preclinical models, be an experienced physiologist familiar with state-of-the-art whole animal phenotyping. Additional duties will include the teaching and training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
