Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:

The Career Services Representative reports to the Coordinator/Director of Career Services within the External Relations Division. The primary role of the Career Services Representative is to plan and execute engagement with students, faculty and employers in a manner that impacts placement and aligns with TSTC's mission, "Placing More Texas in Great Paying Jobs". The Career Services Representative is responsible for the daily operations of a campus Career Center and is the first line contact in the planning of workshops, in-office visits, Interview Practicums, Employer Spotlights, employer interviews, job fairs, and hireTSTC, TSTC's online talent management portal. Close collaboration with students is essential, and the Career Services Representative will instruct and advise students on career readiness while building relationships with students that will aid in the
facilitation of tracking placement. Lastly, the position will require an ability to understand and operate Career Center software used for career readiness, hireTSTC, hiration, and Big Interview.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with a high degree of professionalism in all work settings and functions including all interactions with students, employers, faculty and alumni.
  • Plan and implement a job coaching strategy with multiple students and present skills to aid people in job searches.
  • Strong customer-service orientation, a passion for helping students develop personally and professionally and a commitment to building collaborative and highly productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Efficient relationship management and development with employers and community members.
  • Consults and effectively collaborates regularly with staff to share industry and employer insights to create/implement services and programs that anticipate or respond to trends in the preparation, recruiting and hiring of students.
  • Develops and maintains employer relationships; Coordinates and implements outreach to active employers. Stewards existing employers and relationships in alignment with employer development plans.
  • Some travel required to meet potential industry partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and/or related discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred. One to two years' experience in a higher education, or general business may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • One to two years' experience in a higher education, or general business is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to learn web-based technologies. Good technical writing and business communication skills to include public speaking Knowledge of resume writing, interview preparation skills, and job search techniques strongly preferred.
  • This job description covers a position in which the percentage of time spent on the essential functions will vary based on the workload and will ultimately be determined by the supervisor.
