Company Description

The Project Accountant is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting project financial status. Supervises financial and accounting staff, ensuring that procedures and policies are in place to facilitate effective and efficient financial reporting compliant with local, state and corporate policies. Directs fiscal operations relating to financial planning, funds management, accounting, reporting and disbarment. Other responsibilities include monthly general labor reporting for all operating expenses including payroll and capital expense, monthly projection, annual budget and annual audit.

Job Description
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes resulting in accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare all supporting information for multiple audits during the course of the year and liaise with the Corporate office, Board staff and external auditors as necessary
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for inventory management, accounts payable and accounts receivable,
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
  • Manage grant expenditures and prepare forecasts in accordance with policy
  • Conduct variance analysis between budget, actual and forecasted statements on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets
  • Liaise with the Funding Customer, Project Director, corporate support staff and other managers within the organization
  • Assist the Project Director and the Funding Customer with financial reporting, as required at Board meeting
  • Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Project Director and/or Regional Director
  • Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with contract agreements with funding customer Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activities of the project Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, accounting, finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Must have demonstrated Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), be able to interpret balance sheets and profit/loss reports, and write and implement financial management policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to budget and forecast across multiple funding streams and communicate the contract's financial position.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to use general office equipment.
  • Must have excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills

Ability to work across all levels of management and staff.

Additional Information

Work Requirements: Extensive standing, sitting, computer, phone, and deskwork required; some kneeling and lifting of up to 50 pounds required; work primarily in a defined office environment with specified hours, although flexible hours including overtime may be required; interacts one on one and in groups with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Travel Requirements:50% travel within Dallas County
