Summary
Responsible for providing safety training and scheduling technical training for personnel of the Electric Department.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 depending on qualifications
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentify training deficiencies, develop multi-media resources and coordinate training programs and activities.
Organize and develop training manuals, testing procedures and evaluations.
Develop, maintain and implement Department of Labor Journeymen Programs.
Develop and maintain a training reference library and other educational materials.
Investigate and maintain documentation of accidents with Safety Manager.
Develop and recommend new procedures and preventive safety measures.
Perform safety evaluations of personnel, equipment and work sites.
Schedule technical training for personnel.
Conduct training classes in CPR/AED and First Aid.
Two-year college degree
2 years experience
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred QualificationsEducation/ Experience:
Associates degree in safety related field and/or electrical theory and practices
2-3 years experience in Electrical theory practices and procedures
Experience with OSHA 1910.269
Experience in transmission and distribution safety crew inspections
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of Department of Labor Lineman apprentice program
Considerable knowledge of OSHA regulations
Considerable knowledge of electrical theory
Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Skill in developing training manuals
Skill in record keeping
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Valid Class C Texas driver's license
The incumbent works outside in the field at utility job site locations. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional inside office work.
